Net shortwave radiation is a measure of the difference between incoming solar shortwave radiation and outgoing shortwave radiation from the earth surface. Net shortwave radiation can be expressed by the amount of incident solar shortwave radiation absorbed on the earth surface per unit of area:
net shortwave radiation (W/m^2) = {direct shortwave radiation (W/m^2)
+ diffused shortwave radiation (W/m^2)} (1 – surface albedo) |
